It's Christmas!!

Hi Ladies,

Firstly, I'm so sorry for the lack of posts recently. I know the time of year is the usual excuse but I have just been so busy with work and everything else that I haven't had a minute and I don't want to put half hearted posts up for you.

I can't believe it's Christmas already! I'm pretty sorted in regards to it all, just a little more shopping and wrapping to do. More than anything, I'm looking forward to some down time and some rest!

I have lots of posts planned for you all in the New Year that I'm pretty excited about. To be honest, I'm looking forward to getting back in to the swing of a normal routine. You know the manic girl you see rushing around various shopping centres on Christmas Eve, that is me!

So, some things that I have learnt this year....

  • Be patient
  • Trust your gut instinct
  • Don't get carried away by the word 'Limited Edition'

  • Don't Go - Wretch 32
  • Shot For Me - Drake
  • Fancy - Drake
  • Hate - Jay Z

Look What's Arrived!!

Hi Ladies,

So in my previous post I showed how ridiculous my make up collection had become and knew that something had to change.

I ordered this little beauty from Ebay and now everything is tidy (well tidier) and in one place!

This is the make up case when closed:

Partially opened:

Fully opened:

I need to be sure to keep switching this around every week/month as everything in the bottom compartment will be completely neglected.

These apparently are available in other colours including hot pink and retail between £30 - £40 depending on the seller.

How to you store your make up?

Thank you for reading!

Lots of love, Amy

I Have A Problem.....

Hi Ladies,

I have a problem that I am quite embarrassed about. Look at the state of this:

Now this isn't even HALF of my make up. I don't wear the majority of it. I used to have drawers stacked nicely and in order (so a lip draw, for example) and I don't know what has happened.

All of my products need a good clean, not to mention my brushes!!

So when catching up on blogs earlier on today, I noticed that Laura over at Liparazzi had just ordered a make up case to store all of hers in and had to have it.

I ordered it today so hopefully will be here in the next few days.

I'll post again with that it looks like all organised and let you know the link so that you can order too if you want to.

How do you store your make up/products?

Thank you for reading.

Most Used Top Ten Products Of The Month

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all well.

I feel like I am in a bit of a product rut, always using the same products. I seem to reach for the same things which I suppose is a good thing as I know what works for me but not for the mound of make up I have that never gets used.

I thought I'd show you my most reached for of the month and let you in to a revelation (I bet you can already guess, it is foundation related!)

1) Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation - You probably expected this but this is the foundation that I always go back to. Use with a light hand as it can look cakey if skin is not moisturised but I have nothing but praise for this product! Flawless coverage and always reliable.

2) Crest Whitening Strips 3D - I ordered the strips from Ebay and have been using them only for a few days now but have noticed a difference already. You are supposed to wear for half an hour a day for best results. You can purchase other Crest Whitening Strips but I believe that the 3D ones are the strongest.

3) Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream - A must have winter product! I use on my lips throughout the day and before bed. I also use on my cuticles and any dry patches on my skin.

4) Palmers Coconut Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Milk - Super cheap and all three products work so well on my hair. I buy mine from Multi Pharmacy. The Protein Packs are brilliant as a really deep condition. As you can imagine, all smell AMAZING!

5) Eye Dew Dazzling Eye Drops - Guaranteed to make tired eyes feel much brighter and more awake. Great for days when you're feeling tired. I apply to my eyes after moisturiser and before make up. No other eye drops make the grade.

6) Bobbi Brown Corrector - I'll admit, even after all of the rave reviews, I was sceptical about this product working. But it does!! Over the past few days I've had so many compliments that I look 'fresh' and 'rested' and I totally think it's because of this. Trust me and try it!

7) Mac Stripdown Lip Liner - I only bought this because Kim Kardashian mentioned that she uses it paired with Mac Angel Lipstick and Nars Turkish Delight Gloss. I'm not much of a lipliner fan but this is really natural and looks so nice on the lips.

8) Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion: This is my favourite moisturiser of all time. I have tried the Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream lately but feel like my skin looks and feels better with Clinique. It's also an excellent base for make up.

9) Philosophy - Amazing Grace - Sometimes I just crave a really light perfume. I wear this on dressed down days or when I just want something with a different fragrance. The smell reminds me of a grown up baby powder if that makes any sense? I can't find it in the UK so first tried it in Las Vegas then purchased in Dubai in the summer (I so wish we had a Sephora by the way.)

10) Simple Cleansing Wipes: I'll admit it, I can be very lazy at times when it comes to taking off my make up. Sometimes it seems like such hard work. These wipes tend to do the job, not great with taking off mascara though....

Also, it seems that I say this every time I post but Vivianna made me buy something again. You knew it was coming, Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation. I'll try tomorrow and report back to you all. Fingers crossed I will love it as much as everyone else!

I picked up the Jemma Kidd Crushed Jewel Liner in Quartz too, which is a lovely purple glitter!

What are your most used products of the month, any recommendations?

Thank you for reading!

A Hair Product That REALLY Makes A Difference.....

Hi Ladies,

My friend, Steph, over at A Rapunzel Story mentioned a glossing spray to me a few years ago that really made a difference to the condition and appearance of her hair. She has dark hair but recommended it for lighter hair, like mine.

The product that I am talking about is Inecto Pure Coconut Glossing Spray and it's FANTASTIC!

It retails at about £3.00 in the UK and really is value for money.

I use this on dry hair after it has been styled to give it a gloss (I have blonde hair and it really is noticeable) and I know that Steph sprays hers on to wet hair before she blow dries her hair and then again afterwards.

What products really make a difference to your hair? I'm on the lookout for a really luxurious mask so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you for reading, as always.

My First Illamasqua Product & Girl Crush!!

Hi Ladies,

HAPPY DECEMBER!!! I can't believe where a whole year has gone! It only seems like two minutes ago since the 1st December 2010 and the snow was so bad in the UK that we couldn't leave our houses!

I'm pleased to say that I have done the majority of my Christmas shopping now. I refuse to rush around like a maniac on the run up to the big day so want to get everything sorted and ready so that I can enjoy it!

Anyway, I have a confession. I know I said that I wasn't going to buy any more make up for a while and that I was going to use up some of the products that I own before obsessing over anything else BUT I developed a major girl crush and she made me do it!!

The product in question is Illamasqua Lipgloss in Divine and the crush is a STUNNING Beauty Guru from Dubai, Huda Beauty.

She updates her Blog and Twitter daily and her YouTube videos often (more please Huda!!)

Anyway, when watching one of her YouTube videos (Show Me Your Mirror Face in case you were wondering.) I completely fell in love with this lipgloss and logged straight on to ASOS to order!

It's really bright in the lips but seems sheer on the lips. I haven't had chance to try it yet but I'll be sure to keep you posted.

This is my first Illamasqua product (I know!!) What others do you recommend?

Please click the above links and check Huda out, I'm sure you'll all love her!

Thanks for reading and with lots of love,

25 Beauty Questions

Hi Ladies,

I noticed this on a couple of the blogs that I read recently and I can't resist a questionnaire! I find it so interesting to read what others have to say so thought I would give it a go...

1. Do you apply your foundation with a brush, sponge, or fingers?

I usually apply foundation with my fingers in the areas that need coverage then buff in with a foundation brush (MAC 187 is great for a flawless finish.)

2. Do you apply your eyeshadow from light to dark? or dark to light?

Light to dark.

3. Do you prime your eyes?

Sometimes. I usually use Mac Painterly Paintpot as a primer on my eyes but I have lost it! I have the Urban Decay Primer Potion but for some reason, I don’t reach for it.

4. Concealer first, or after foundation?

After. I don’t understand the logic of putting it on before as it will just wipe off when foundation/tinted moisturiser is applied.

5. Go for manicures, or manicure yourself?

I usually do them myself if my nails are short and natural. If I want gel/Shellac/acrylic then I would always go to a salon. I’m careful where I choose though as I’m so particular about my nails.

6. Exfoliate lips, face or both?

I exfoliate my face YSL Exfoliator or Dermalogica Daily Resurfacer and usually exfoliate my lips with a flannel and warm water when needed.

7. On average, how long does it take you to do your makeup?

It can take me between three minutes – thirty minutes depending on what I am doing that day and how tired I am!

8. Do you wear makeup everyday and everywhere?

No. I don’t wear make up when I go to the gym and I don’t wear it if I’m just around the house.

9. What release are you most excited about? (Makeup)

Ummm, to be honest, none that I am aware of. Mac can be hit or miss with their Christmas collection. YSL’s does look very pretty this year though.

10. What’s your weakness? Shoes, purses, clothes, jewelry, eyeshadow, lipstick or other?

I would have to say bags. Guilty as charged!

11. Do you whiten your teeth?

I had them whitened some time ago and use whitening toothpaste every day but now I am thinking of trying the Crest Whitening Strips.

12. Wax eyebrows, or pluck?

Thread or pluck if I am really desperate!

13. What do you use to contour?

At the moment I am using the Sleek Contour Kit and Nars Laguna Bronzer to contour

14. False lashes, or natural?

I go through phases. Natural at the moment. I think The Only Way Is Essex might have put me off lashes for a while.

15. Favourite makeup brand?

MAC with Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown as close seconds.

16. Liquid eyeliner, pencil or gel?

Depends on my mood. Usually I’ll use Mac Smoulder Eyeliner, if I have the patience and time, Mac Fluidline in Blacktrack.

17. Lipstick, lipgloss or chapstick?

Chapstick at the moment as it’s really cold but usually a gloss would be the winner.

18. Pigments, pressed or cream eyeshadow?

Pressed eyeshadow. It’s the least messy!

19. If you had to wear only one thing, excluding foundation; what would it be?

Bronzer to lift the face and to contour. Or Mac Strobe Cream. Or Dior Amber Diamond. I don’t know!!

20. Favourite colour?

I love colours like Urban Decay – Half Baked and Mac – Melon – sooo pretty and different!

21. Favourite colour combination?

A plain base colour like Mac Phloof with a shimmery brown like Mac Woodwinked.

22. Natural? or Dramatic? (Eye Makeup)

It depends on the occasion. Sometimes I love nothing more than a natural pretty eye. Saying that, I love lots of liner, mascara for nights out.

23. Do you care more for quality or name brand?

Quality, 100%.

24. Do you enjoy using face masks? If so which ones?

To be honest, I haven’t used a mask in a long time! I need to up my game by the look of this questionnaire! There are a few lush ones that I would like to try, any recommendations?

25. What is your current addiction? (example: lipsticks, eyeshadows, earrings..)

Mascara, I’m always on the look out for the one that will change my life! I thought YSL Mascara was the one….sadly not though.

I hope that you enjoyed reading! Please comment if you decide to do the same questionnaire as I'd LOVE a nosey at your answers.

Thank you for reading!

This Week's In's & Outs

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all well.

I love these kind of posts but looking at my 'In's' photo, I don't know how interesting you'll find this!

In's:

- Macbook Pro - Simply my best purchase of all time!

- Jeannie Brewer - A Crack In Forever Book - You need to read this! I must have read it 10 times!

- Bath & Body Works Midnight Pomegranate Bath Bubbles and Lotion - both products remind me of my holiday in Dubai this year with my beautiful friend, Jodie. The products work really well and the smell takes me back there

- Dove Hair Oil Treatment - Not only does it retail cheaply but it works! I use this between shampoo and conditioner and leave it on between 3-10 minutes

- YSL Top Secret Exfoliator - I use this every day. It's so gentle and makes my skin super soft

- Fendi Boots - So comfortable believe it or not and prefect for winter

- Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream - Perfect for dry patches. I use on my cuticles and lips mostly

- VO5 Miracle Concentrate - A great alternative for Moroccan Oil (must cheaper too)

- Sudocrem - I use this to moisturise sore skin and to dry up any blemishes

- Models Own Lip Tint In Blackberry - I'm really trying to introduce colour to my lips so this seems to be the best starting point. Really moisturising and gives a sheer berry tint to the lips

Out's:

- Desperately being in need of a break/holiday

- The last Made In Chelsea episode on Monday

- My Hair - I still hate the colour. It's gradually fading but still

Speak soon!

Mini Haul...

Hi Ladies,

So today I was supposed to be meeting my friend, Leah, for dinner. I had every intention of NOT going shopping but a few things caught my eye and I ended up picking up one or two bits...

Warehouse Blouse:

Rosie wore this on the last episode of Made In Chelsea. Now, I am not a Rosie fan (I love Mille and Caggie though) but when I saw this in real life, I just had to get it.

This retails for £55.00 and is still available on the Warehouse website.

I plan on wearing this with black skinny jeans and my Fendi Boots (I'll try to do a post on them for you) or tucked in to a skirt for a night out.

Topshop Black Heavy Weight Leggings:

Not the most attractive picture but I don't think you can go wrong with black leggings for this time of year.

I chose these as the material is nice and thick and the quality feels better than others from the high street.

Vaseline Creme Brulee:

As mentioned in my previous post, I just had to have it. Why? Because I am a beauty addict and cannot resist the words 'Limited Edition.'

Look What I Found Today!

Hi Ladies,

Now correct me if I am wrong and so behind with the times but I thought that this was only available in Selfridges. So today when browsing the isles of Superdrug trying to keep away from the lip balms because I just have FAR too many (to prove a point I counted how many balms I had in my bag today - NINE) this little beauty caught my eye....

Call me naive but I expected this to be different from usual Vaseline, but it's not. Don't get me wrong, it does smell delicious but Vaseline isn't a product that I tend to purchase or reach for because I find it quite drying on the lips. Thinking about this, I checked the ingredients.......why oh why is alcohol included?!

This product is limited edition and retails at £2.99.

What are your thoughts on this? Did you manage to pick one up?

Thank you for reading!

My Christmas Wish List

Hello Lovelies,

So, I love posts like this so thought that you might like to take a look at My Christmas Wish List. This is completely random but here are the thinks that I currently want to own (and some I'll NEVER own) but here goes....

I may as well give you the breakdown here because for some reason Blogger won't let me write under each item!
  • Chanel Bag - No words or explanation needed
  • Chanel Rouge Noir - A classic that I will repurchase again and again (brilliant dupe in Barry M though!)
  • Fashionology Cross Bracelet - just because it's different
  • Origins Ginger Souffle - it reminds me of Christmas and is so moisturising
  • Dogeared Guardian Angel Necklace - I love anything wing related and this is so pretty and delicate
  • Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation - Purely because I am a make up junkie and CANNOT resist rave reviews from other bloggers!
  • Jo Malone Candles - Last forever, smell gorgeous and look so pretty
  • Dogeared Karma Necklace - I don't even know why, I'm just desperate for it!
Thank you so much for reading.

My Favourite Products For Winter..

Hi Lovelies,

It's the weekend!

I was thinking about the products that I like to use in Winter and I thought that you might like to take a look...

Origins Ginger Souffle Whipped Body Cream:
If you have never tried this, you have to at LEAST smell it! It's really moisturising on the skin and the scent makes me think of Christmas immediately.

The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector:
This is the best hand cream that have ever used. I love the fact that you can reapply this to your hands every two minutes (literally) if you wish, and there will never be a greasy/oily residue on your skin. I use this on my feet too and pop on some socks as a treatment.

Bio-Oil:

I mix a little of this with my moisturiser before bed and find that it really evens out my skintone and brightens up my skintone by morning.

Soap And Glory Flake Away Body Exfoliator:
I don't know about you but sometimes I find exfoliating the body a bit of a chore. This little beauty makes it a treat! It smells delicious (the fragrance lingers on the skin too), quickly exfoliates the skin and leaves a light oil residue that makes the skin glow.

Also, I can't live without Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream in the Winter months!

I hope that you enjoyed this post. I tag Tali, Zara, Laura, Dulce and Vivianna!

Thank you for reading.

Lunchtime Pick Me Up...

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all having a good day.

You know those days when you just need a little bit of a 'pick me up'? Well I know I have enough lip products to last me forever but after Sammi at Beauty Crush raved about this product in her posts and YouTube videos, I was tempted to give it a try. This is Model's Own Lip Tint/Balm in Blackberry.

I'll be honest, the reason that I was put off trying this was not the price (retails at £6.00), but the fact that it looks so dark in the pot:

As you can see, it looks very dark in the pot and I didn't want to run the risk of looking like Mortisha Adams on a bad day so when I swatched on my hand, I was pleasantly surprised....

A full review will follow when I've had the chance to try it out for you.

Burts Bees Beeswax & Banana Hand Cream

Hi Ladies,

So I think I have found my holy grail hand cream.

This is so moisturising and smells DIVINE! This product would not be for you though if you're not a fan of bananas.

It is quite thick and rich, a little bit on the oily side so I would recommend using this at night before bed.

Thanks for reading.

High End Beauty Buys...

Hi Girls,

I'm so sorry for the lack of posts recently. I've literally not had ANY free time. I think the clocks going back and the dark nights are making everyone so sleepy and exhausted!

Anyway, I wanted to follow up my previous posts with what I consider to be high end 'must have's'!

Firstly, you'll probably hear me go on about the following products for the rest of my days, so apologies in advance!

Mac Studio Fix Fluid:

So, this is the foundation that I always go back to and have done for so many years. Recently I have tried Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation, Chanel Pro Lumiere and Mac Pro Longwear but still find myself reaching for this.

I'll admit, I do love the Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation but haven't found myself reaching for it much recently. Chanel Pro Lumiere looks lovely when first applied to the skin but I would not recommend this to ladies with oily skin. My skin is normal/combination and made me look oily rather than dewy and seemed to disappear from my skin after just a few hours. I do like Mac Pro Longwear and to be fair, maybe I haven't given it much of a fair trial but so far, aside from its staying power, which is brilliant, it does seem to be lacking something, I just don't know what.

Mac Studio Fix is everything that I want from a foundation; the coverage is great, I use 1-2 pumps and buff in to my skin with a Mac 187 brush. It makes my face look flawless with buildable application without looking cakey or mask like.

Mac Studio Fix Concealer:

Again, another product that I have used religiously for years. This concealer provides great coverage for redness and blemishes but I'm not too sure about under eye circles. I've been hearing rave reviews about the Bobby Brown Corrector so might invest in that. Has anyone tried this? I'd really appreciate your comments about it. Is is worth the price tag?

Mac Strobe Cream:

Most people use this product mixed in with their foundation or tinted moisturiser to give their skin a boost and an extra glow. Personally, I dab the tiniest amount on the top of my cheekbones and sometimes a little bit on my eyelids if I am looking tired.

Nars Laguna Bronzer:
After trying so so many bronzers, I repurchase this all the time. It gives a really natural glow, is great for contouring and never looks fake or orange. One compact of this usually lasts me a year so value for money works out great, compared to cheaper alternatives that last for 6-8 months. If you haven't tried this product before, I highly recommend that you do.

Dior Amber Diamond:

You knew this one was coming. I have no need to hype this product. Everything that has been said is true! I will repurchase over and over again. I use the tiniest little bit on the top of my cheekbones and sometimes use lightly on the eyes too.

Clarins Lip Perfecter:

I feel like I am just repeating what every single blogger has to say but this is seriously amazing. It's available in several shades (three,  I think) but i have only tired the shade 002. This looks really pretty on the lips, is not sticky and each tube lasts around about three months. I'd be keen to try the other shades. What are your thoughts on these?

This post could carry on forever seriously, but the above really are my staples. What are your favourite high end beauty buys and why?

As always, thank you for reading. Your comments are appreciated!

Budget Beauty Buys...

Hi Ladies,

I apologize for my lack of posts recently, it's been a really busy few days. I hope to get back up to speed now.

So, I've been asking around my friends and family and have noted some of their top beauty products for times that you're on a budget.

Palmers Cocoa Butter:

I don't know ANYONE that doesn't love this product. It smells DELICIOUS, lasts such a long time, retails really cheaply and most importantly, really moisturises and treats the skin. If you don't like the smell, a fragrance free option as available, which my friend, Fergie, swears by.

Nivea Milk & Honey Lip Balm:

I have to confess, I have a LOT of lip balms. When I say a lot, I mean 20 +. I didn't need another lip balm but when I saw this in Tesco, I loved the name and just had to have it. Out of all of the balms that I have, this is definitely the one that I reach for the most. It has a slight smell of honey, glides on to the lips really smoothly and lasts for a long time, whilst really conditioning the lips.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes:

Now I am usually really good at removing make up when home from work/a night out but sometimes, I'll be honest, I really cannot be bothered! At times like these, I rely on these wipes to remove all traces of make up and leave my skin balanced.

Aussie Luscious Long Leave In Conditioner:

I know this sounds dramatic but I couldn't dry my hair without this. When hair is damp, I will work through Moroccan Oil, followed by 5 - 10 sprays of this through each side of my hair then I brush through with my Tangle Teezer. This makes my hair really manageable (it's long, thick and curly) and really nourishes and protects the hair at the same time.

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil:

This is the only product that I will use on my eyebrows when lightly pencilling in. Very affordable (retails at less than £3.00) and comes with a brush to tidy up eyebrows, giving a very light natural colour, whilst framing the face.

I'll be back with more posts soon. I hope that you enjoyed!

Thank you for reading.

A Selfish Splurge

Hi Ladies,

So a few weeks ago, I went out for dinner with my beautiful friend, Gemma. As soon as we met, I noticed the fragrance she had on immediately - she smelt GORGEOUS!!

Gemma mentioned that she was wearing the Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Body Souffle. Seriously, she smelt INCREDIBLE.

After restraining for a few weeks, I popped along to House Of Fraser and picked up the Souffle and the fragrance too. As they retail at £43.50 for the Souffle and the £41.50 for the perfume, I wanted to give you some advice; there is no need to buy both. Both products are extremely long lasting and if you were to wear both, it may become a little overpowering.

They also look really pretty on your dressing table...

I'd like to try the Fig and Pistachio ranges too. I might have to pop that on my Christmas list!

Thank you for reading.

My Top Three...

Hi Ladies,

So today I was thinking about nail varnish. I have so many bottles of polish but do tend to stick to the same three really. (I do change this in summer when I can get away with wearing brighter colours though.)

So, the top three:

Essie Mint Candy Apple:

I remember the first time I saw this. I fell in love instantly. Admittedly, the application isn't great and it takes three coats to give even coverage. This looks great on short, natural nails and instantly receives so many compliments!

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark:

I don't think I'll even have to hype this varnish up to you. It's my favourite of all time! Looks amazing on fingers and toes, especially in Autumn/Winter. I'm thinking of purchasing the gold and silver Gosh Nail Glitters to try with this. Has anyone used the glitters? What are your thoughts?

Bourjois Rose Lounge:

Apparently, this is the varnish that Kate Middleton wore on her Wedding Day to Prince William. I'll admit, I saw her nails and instantly HAD to find out what she was wearing. I bought this from Boots for around £6.00 and the application is fantastic. I usually wear between 1 - 2 coats of this depending on the look that I am going for. It looks really professional and polished, a fantastic varnish to wear during the working week if you work in an office.

I'm looking at updating regularly over the next few days. If there any reviews/posts that you would like to see, just let me know!

What are your go to nail varnishes?

Thank you for reading.
