Current Hand & Nails Loves!

Hi Ladies,

When the weather gets a little bit colder, for some reason I tend to take more care of my hands and nails.

I thought I'd share my hand and nail loves with you all. As you know, I'm obsessed with hand cream so quite a few will be mentioned!

The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector:

I love love love this hand cream! It's really thick and great when applied to the hands in the winter months. Soaks in immediately and lasts a long time before you have to reapply.Great value too!

Soap & Glory Hand Food:
You've probably all heard about this! It smells delicious, it's really moisturising and is light on the skin. I keep this on my desk at work and need to reapply 2-3 times per day. Great for conditioning nails too and lasts a long time.

Clarins Creme Jeunesse Des Mains:
Hand on heart, this is my favourite hand cream of all time. Smells lovely, really smooth and moisturising. This strengthens my nails and is the one that I always go back to.

Estee Lauder Treatment Base Coat:
Vitamin-rich treatment for nails, enhances growth, diminishes discolouration and forms a smooth base for varnish. Can be worn alone too and still looks polished and pretty.

For my cuticles I usually use By Terry Baume De Rose, Number 7 Nourishing Nail & Cuticle Treatment or The Body Shop Almond Cuticle Oil (smells yummy!) I'm also trying OPI Nail Envy (Matte) so I'll let you know what I think.

What are your Autumn/Fall varnish recommendations? I'm absolutely loving the old favourite OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and Chanel Frenzy!

Thank you for reading.

Lots of love,
Amy

What I Do When I Feel 'Blah'

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you’re having a good day.

With the nights drawing in and everyone feeling so cold and ‘blah’, I wanted to write about what I do when I’m feeling a little bit rubbish and either need to relax or need perking up!

Firstly, I go home and put the heating on. Then I run a hot bath and light some candles (any from Yankee or Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir.) When this is running, I’ll grab my trusted Tangle Teezer and brush through my hair for a minute or two then take off my nail varnish on fingers and toes. At this stage, sometimes I’ll add a pre shampoo hair mask. I really like Organix Self Heating Coconut Oil and pure unrefined coconut oil for this. I’ll apply to my hair and put in a turban or hair band.

After this, in the bath, I’ll thoroughly cleanse my face with Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish (I’ll double cleanse if I’m really pushing the out) then apply Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In It to my t-zone. Sometimes I leave this on for a few minutes as a mask.

I’ll scrub my skin with whichever scrub is lying around. I really like the Soap & Glory Flake Away scrub, used with exfoliating mitts, as it smells delicious and leaves a lovely moisturised sheen to the skin.

I’ll move from the bath to the shower to rinse of the residue of the body scrub and the pre-shampoo  away. I’ll follow with the current shampoo and conditioner of choice (at the moment it’s Herbal Essences) then I’ll apply Palmers Protein Pack to my hair.

Leaving the bathroom now in a fluffy robe/dressing gown, I’ll usually make a cup of tea, catch up with blogs or watch some trash on TV (usually Keeping Up With The Kardashians) while the Protein Pack works its magic. After an hour or so, I’ll rinse the hair mask away, detangle with my Tangle Teezer, apply either Moroccan Oil or Organix Argan Oil along with Aussie Lucious Long Leave In Conditioner, then brush through again.

Hair will be left to dry partly naturally and nails will be cut, filed, cuticle cream will be added (loving Number 7 at the moment) then Estee Lauder Base coat will be applied.

I’ll blow dry my hair in sections then will usually run my straighters over the hair (GHD’s)

Eyebrows will be tidied using Tweezerman Tweezers and Liz Earle Tonic will be used on the face with a cotton pad followed a spritz of Caudalie Beauty Elixir then a moisturiser, mask (Origins Drink Up Overnight Intensive) or face oil (Clarins Blue Orchid.)

OPI Nail Envy will be used and nails will either be left natural at this stage or painted (loving Chanel Frenzy and Nails Inc Baker Street polish at the moment.)

I’ll slather myself in Xen Tan in Dark and pop off to bed, quickly shower in the morning and use a lovely body moisturiser such as Bath & Body Works Winder Wonderland, Laura Mercier in Fig or The Body Shop Body Butter in Coconut, Satsuma or Mango.

I hope that you enjoyed reading!

Lots of love,
Amy

Must Have Repurchases!

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all keeping well.

I felt inspired to write this post today. What would you repurchase straight away if your make up/beauty essentials were stolen and you had to start ALL OVER AGAIN?!

Now, we can't be too excessive here, we need to keep moderately sensible. The items I've mentioned below are products that I use most days, if not every day. Now with some of them I will sound like a broken record, but you know me!

So here goes....

Foundation/Tinted Moisturiser - Chantecaille Tinted Moisturiser in Glow

I just love this little beauty. You only need a tiny amount for your whole face. I use my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to stipple in to my skin. On bad skin days or when I feel I need a little more more coverage, I mix with a tiny bit of Mac Pro Longwear. Worth the price tag of £57? The jury is still out.

Corrector/Concealer - Bobbi Brown Corrector/Mac Studio Sculpt Concealer

It would have to my my trusty Bobbi Brown corrector. This makes a massive difference to my under eyes especially after a late night. For reference, I'm shade Light To Medium Bisque. I always follow with Mac Studio Sculpt concealer then use a little around my nose and on my chin too.

Bronzer - The Body Shop Honey Bronze Gel
I've tried every bronzer in the whole world. Literally. You name it, I have tried it. For some reason though, whenever I want to look a little more glowy and natural, I always pick this up. I use a tiny amount and dab on my head, nose and top of the cheeks. Highly recommended if you haven't tried.

Lip Balm - By Terry Baume De Rose

For me, this is heaven in a perfect little pot. I use it every single day and wouldn't even think of picking up another balm now. I use for my cuticles too. Worth the £35 price tag? ABSOLUTELY.

Mascara/Mascara Primer Dior Maximiser Primer and Benefit They're Real Mascara

Useless apart, heavenly together! Being really honest, I haven't noticed a difference to the condition or length of my lashes since using the primer but with the mascara it just WORKS. I wouldn't dream of putting mascara on without using this first.

Highlighter - Dior Amber Diamond

Just beautiful. And cost effective! I have had the same product for two years now and there is hardly any sign of usage!

Blusher - Laura Mercier Lush Nectarine
Without question, this is my ALL TIME favourite blusher. All the Mac and Chanel blushers have been left in the drawer. I honestly think I'll use this for the rest of my life.

Lipstick - Mac Politely Pink
I love this lipstick. It looks so polished and pretty for day time. I do find it kind of moisturising in a weird way too. Looks lovely for the day with a little By Terry Baume De Rose dabbed over it, or with a gloss.

What wouldn't you repurchase if you had to go back to basics?

Thank you for reading.

Lots of love,
Amy

By Terry - Baume De Rose

Hi Ladies!!

I'm so glad to be back! I know, I've completely neglected you all and I'm sorry!

It feels so strange to actually be back writing. I hope that you've all been ok.

I'm sure that you've all heard about this product but I wanted to justify to you all that THIS PRODUCT IS WORTH THE MONEY!

I am, of cause, talking about By Terry's Baume De Rose. The blurb on the By Terry website describes the little beauty as "this melt-away balm, which has become the must-have of Hollywood stars, BY TERRY's über-cult product, is a real ultra-glamorous SOS treatment to repair, nourish, regenerate and lastingly protect the lips.

This ultra-rich product is also a precious salve to care for and strengthen the cuticles.
Its creamy and delicately rose-scented texture, which is shiny without being sticky, coats the lips in an incredibly natural glossy finish.

In an instant, the lips are lastingly smoothed, plumped up, supple and protected!"

if that doesn't make you want to put your debit/credit card in the machine and hastily punching in your pin number, then I don’t know what would!

I’ll admit, spending £35 on a lipbalm did make me feel a but guilty when you can buy a Chapstick for 99p but then my Client justified it like this: “Well, according to reviews, it lasts a year. You’ll use it a few times a day for 365 days so it’s actually CHEAP! And you only have five layers of skin on your lips so you have to look after them!” I was sold!

So I’ve had it a week now. Do I want my £35 back? No way Jose!

And as we are all like magpies, LOOK how pretty it is!!!!!!!

Thank GOD it is Friday. Tonight will consist of wrapping myself up in a huge blanket away from all this horrible weather, eating too many carbs, watching trash TV and reading MORE 50 Shades Of Grey! Unsociable, me? Never!
What are your number one products at the moment?
Thanks for reading and for being so patient with me.
Lots of love,
Amy

Lea's Tag!

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you’re all having a good day.

So, I noticed this tag on the lovely Lea’s blog and thought I’d have a go too! If you haven’t seen her blog, it’s amazing. Beautifully put together with regular posts covering various topics. Plus, she is gorgeous!

Makeup:

- Blush or Bronzer – This is a hard one! I love to use bronzer as a contour and to give me a little bit of colour but some faces can look ‘flat’ without a bit of blusher. Can’t I have both?! I’ll go with bronzer (Nars Laguna) as I could always dab a little lipstick/lipstain on my cheeks I guess

- Lip Gloss or Lipstick - Lipstick, I love MAC Myth to tone down my lips for the day then maybe add a balm to keep things natural for the daytime

- Eye liner or Mascara – Mascara!! At the moment I’m using Dior Diorshow Maximizer as a primer with Benefit They’re Real mascara over the top and I love the look

- Foundation or Concealer – Foundation. Speaking of foundation, if anyone knows where Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation in Light/Medium 03 is in stock, PLEASE let me know!

- Neutral or colour eye shadow - Neutral, 100%

- Pressed or loose eye shadows - Pressed, the last thing that ANYONE needs is eyeshadow all over their face!

- Brushes or Sponges - Brushes, I don't own a sponge.

Nails:

- OPI or China Glaze - OPI

- Long or short – I change my mind all the time so lets say inbetween!

- Acrylic or natural – Natural. Acrylic nails can look nice but they RUIN your nails

- Brights or Darks - Depends on how I’m feeling. At the moment I have a bright coral on my fingers and toes

Flower or no flower - No flower, too Gypsy Wedding for me, thanks

Body:

- Perfume or body splash – Perfume, I’m wearing Jo Malone today

- Lotion or Body Butter - Body butter at night, lotion in the day

- Body wash or soap - Body wash, soaps tend to dry my skin out

-  Lush or other bath company - Lush. I'm loving Lush at the moment

Fashion:

- Jeans or sweat pants - Jeans

- Long sleeve of short - normally short.

 Dresses or skirts - Dresses

- Stripes or plaid – Ummm, stripes I suppose?

- Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe - Forever 21

- Abercombie or Hollister Abercrombie, it seems like everyone has Hollister on at the moment

- Saks 5th or Nordstrom - I'd have to go with Nordstrom

Hair:

- Curly or straight - Curly

- Bun or ponytail - Ponytail

- Bobby pins or butterfly clips - Bobby pins

- Hair Spray or gel - Hair spray sometimes

-  Long or short – Long. What a long and painful process too!

- Light or dark – Can I say inbetween?

- Side sweep bangs or full bangs - Side

-  Up or down – Down when I have time, up when I don’t!

Random:

- Rain or shine – Shine! We don’t have enough sun in the UK

Make sure you take a look at Lea's blog too!

Thank you for reading.

Skin Nightmare!!

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all well.

I don't know what is wrong recently but my skin is an absolute NIGHTMARE!

Spotty with dry patches, looks terrible with AND without make up!

So, yesterday I dashed to Lush and picked up the below products:

Angels On Bare Skin Cleanser:

Taken from the Lush website:

'Angels on Bare Skin evens out skin tone, reduces redness and improves the health and appearance of your skin – giving a natural healthy glow.

The ground almonds in this product release their goodness and turn to an almond milk on your hand when you add water.

Almond milk has been used in many parts of the world for centuries as a toning and brightening ingredient.

We have mixed this with kaolin, to absorb grease and gently cleanse, vegetable glycerine to soften and moisturise the skin and a beautiful blend of essential oils, all chosen for their abilities to balance and tone the skin.

We then sprinkle the mix with lavender flowers as we roll it. Angels on Bare Skin is made from 100 percent natural ingredients – because when nature is this good, you don’t want to mess with her balance!

This is basically a solid that turns to a cleansing milk when you add the water. By taking out the water we have taken away the need to add preservatives – which makes this much kinder on your face and does not upset the skin's own microflora.

It is hard to tell you in words how fantastic this product is. Only by using it will you know its full value.'

Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask:

Taken from the Lush website:

'You know those times when you get one or two spots and it throws you into panic? Well, this mask is here to lend you a bit of perspective, to tell you to calm down, it’s not the end of the world and it’s nothing that can't be sorted. Basically, this is your best mate in a pot.

Irish moss gel will soften the skin, whilst almond oil will moisturise and leave it supple.

Fresh blueberries are full of vitamins and minerals and are anitoxidant. Rose absolute and chamomile essential oil will reduce redness and irritation. Calamine and talc will deep clean and soothe the skin at the same time.

Combined together they provide your skin with a good deep cleanse without causing puffiness – leaving the face cool, clear and calm.

This is a deep cleansing mask that it designed for regular maintenance to keep the skin clean and clear. Regular deep cleaning can avoid spots occurring and keep skin in top condition.'

I've used both products for the last few days so it would be unfair to provide a fair review just yet but used along with Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Caudalie Beauty Elixir, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser and Origins Spot Remover, I have noticed my skin calming a little.

What do you do when your skin goes crazy? Are there any other recommendations for me to try?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thank you for reading.

Lots of love,
Amy

Sulphate Free Hair!

Hi Ladies,

After what feels like years of trying to grow my hair with tablets, oils, treatments, masks and brushes, I think I've finally found what I've been doing wrong - using shampoo and conditioner using sulphates!

Apparently sulphates cause the hair to be brittle and weak, which, of course will slow down growth and snap hair. From now on my hair (shampoo and conditioner wise anyway) is now sulphate free!

Reports show that sulfate can be the worst irritant ever responsible for burning sensation in the eyes and skin. Sulfate can penetrate in the skin even by application and can easily reach eyes, brain, and liver and damages the cells present there (sounds dramatic, I know.) It also interferes with the hormonal levels in the body.

Baby shampoos are always formulated without sulfates. This is the secret of their ‘no more tears’ formula. However, you cannot use baby shampoos as they have very mild cleaning agents which do little to take the dirt out of your hair.
I thought you'd be interested to see a comrehensive list of some shampoos that are sulphate free:

- ABBA True Curls Shampoo
- Alba Shampoo
- Alfa Parf’s Splendore Hydrate Shampoo
- Allafia Shampoo
- Aloe Jojoba Shampoo
- Aubrey Organics Shampoo
- Aveda Shampoo
- Avalon Shampoo
- Burt Bees Shampoo
- BrocatoSplash Shampoo
- Body Shop’s Honey Moisturizing Shampoo
- Beauty Without Cruelty Shampoo
- Dead Sea Natural Mineral Shampoo
- Deva Curl Low Poo Shampoo
- Desert Essence Shampoo
- Enjoy Shampoo
- Fragile Color Safe Shampoo
- Herbal Choice Natural Shampoo
- Honey Moisturizing Shampoo from Body Shop
- Jason Shampoo
- John Masters Organic Shampoo
- Jonathan Shampoo
- Kenra Shampoo
- Kiss My Face Shampoo
- L’ANZA Shampoo
- Logona Shampoo
- Mastey Shampoo
- Max Green Scalp Rescue Shampoo
- Nature Gate Organic Shampoo
- Neutrogena Triple Moisture Shampoo
- Nuture My Body Organic Volumizing Shampoo
- Optima Australian Tea Tree Shampoo
- Organic Care Systems Shampoo
- OSMO Shampoo
- Paves Prof Shampoo
- Pravana Shampoo
- Pureology Shampoo
- Real Purity Shampoo
- SEXY HAIR Shampoo
- Shikai Shampoo
- Silkane Shampoo
- Tara Smith’s Shampoo
- TiGi Shampoo
- Treasured Locks Shampoo
- Ultimate Shampoo
- Zerran Shampoo

I love Aveda products anyway and used the Shampure range, which I adored, so I'm off to pick up some more tonight. I'll keep you posted with any changes I have noticed - a review will follow.

Are you trying to grow your hair? Have you tried sulphate free too? I'd love to hear your tips and tricks!

Thank you for reading, as always.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all well.

The weather is so miserable here today so I thought that it was a good opportunity to let you know about a new product that I've been using for the last few weeks, Caudalie Beauty Elixir.

Now I know this is a dramatic statement to make but I will NEVER again be without this.

I can't even explain what it is that makes me love it so much. I bought the 30ml bottle from Feel Unique to try. From reading other reviews online, the best way to use the Elixir is to spray a few sprays on to your hands (after cleansing your face, morning or before bed or throughout the day to refresh your make up), take a few deep breaths of the fragrance in (such a calming a soothing fragrance) then pat the product in to the skin.

Depending on your skin type, some of the reviews mentioned that spraying the Elixir directly on to the face caused their skin to be irritated and dry. I'd recommend the above method or application as I've tried both ways and feel that the later method doesn't give you the benefit of the fragrance.

At the moment, I am using this after cleansing and before moisturiser morning and night. I'm addicted to the smell to so have used in the middle of the day to perk me up and refresh my make up.

Has anyone tried any other products from the Caudalie brand? What else would you recommend? Caudalie is a big hit for me so far.

I'll definitely be purchasing the 100ml sized bottle to leave at home and will leave the 30ml in my bag.

In case you aren't aware, this is the packaging:

Thank you for reading.

Revlon Lip Butter - Cotton Candy

Hi Ladies,

I'm a bit late on the bandwagon, I know. I was completely sucked in by the hype but decided I just wasn't going to buy any of the Revlon Lip Butters until I had used up at least ten balms/lipsticks/glosses.

To be honest, I don't need this and I wasn't going to bother until the lovely Sinead over at Dainty Dollymix decided to sell one of hers.

I love the packaging, the colour is pretty, sheer but still quite pigmented (my shade is Cotton Candy.) The formula is quite moisturising and does last on the lips.

Do I like it? Yes.

Do you need it? No, not if you have other balms/butters to use up.

Is it a must have? No.

What do you think to the Lip Butters? Have you bought in to all the hype?

Thank you for reading.

Love,

Clean & Lean

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all well and that you're enjoying the last day of our long weekend. The rest of my day consists of blogging, catching up on blogs, dragging myself to the gym followed by watching the soaps and Made In Chelsea! A very lazy one for me.

Anyway, I'm disgusted with the amount of rubbish I have been eating recently. Far too much junk, tea with sugar, cakes and chocolate. I haven't been to the gym for a month and need to get myself back on track so last week after ordering James Duigan's Clean & Lean book, I decided I may as well start today.

Basically the concept is to cut out all of the C.R.A.P (caffeine, refined sugar, alcohol and process food) in your diet for a period of two weeks initially and focus on meals that are protein, vegetable and salad rich.

As I wasn't that prepared this morning, I haven't had breakfast but for dinner I prepared a grilled chicken salad (rocket, peppers, tomatoes and olives.)

I think cutting out sugar will be the most difficult part for me as I drink a lot of tea (also not allowed) with sugar at work. Looks like I'll be sticking to water, fruit and flavoured teas for now.

The book is really well written though and reading what certain foods actually does to your body makes you want to eat better and take care of yourself.

I ordered my book from here.

Have any of you tried this?

Here is some healthy eating inspiration!

Oh and this:

Thank you for reading.

Lots of love,
Amy

Count Your Blessings

Hi Ladies,

Recently the gorgeous and lovely Tali over at The Gloss Goss wrote a post called Gratefulness and it really got me thinking. Basically, she decided to write about things in her life that she is grateful for and encouraged her readers to do the same.  It was such a lovely post and beautifully written. See it here.

I think, as humans, we tend to make big dramas of the things that are not so great in our lives and forget about all of the things that we are generously blessed with. All of our energy is drained from worrying about certain situations, what is going wrong, that we never take the time to step back and appreciate the positives.

From today, I want to try to remind myself of my blessings and let go of the things that worry me and make me unhappy. It's not an easy thing to do but I think that we should all make a conscious effort to try.

I want to write about three things that I'm blessed with and I'd love it if you could do the same in the comments box below.

1) I have a handful of friends that I can call in the middle of the night and I know that they will be there for me no matter what. They are patient with me, sometimes having the same conversation a million times over, they know when to be harsh with me and when to be kind and they offer the best advice in the world. They only want the best for me and support me through everything.

2) I'm fortunate enough to have a career that means if I'm disciplined with myself, I can save enough money to do the things that I want to (buy a house, go on holiday.) It's hard word but I accept the fact that I'm fortunate enough to be comfortable and enjoy what I'm doing on a day to day basis too.

3) Family

Thank you for reading, as always.

I look forward to hearing your blessings.

Lots of love,
Amy

New Shellac!

Hi Ladies,

I know, I'm becoming a little obsessed! One of my very best friends, Nicola, has started doing Shellac.

As you know, I've been having my Shellac done at a local salon and, to date, have tried the colours 'Hollywood' and 'Masquerade'. This is 'Purple Purple'.

This shade shows different colours on different lights. Sometimes it's blue, sometimes purple. It's different and I love it. My toes match but I won't put you through pictures of my feet!

My friend, Jodie, lives in Dubai but is back home for the weekend so I'm off to see her tonight.

When back home, I'm slathering myself in glorious Zen-Tan and hope that when I wake up, I don't still look the shade of a moomin!

What is your favourite shade of Shellac?

Thank you for reading.

Lots of love,
Amy

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all well and that you're looking forward to a four day break.

I don't know if you're the same, but I absolutely love looking at how other people design and decorate their homes. I'm currently in the process in saving for a deposit for my own home, so I've saved some of the pictures that I lust over to push me when I feel like splurging on a new bag or shoes.

There are my favourites, I thought you might like to take a look:

All of these pictures were taken from various Tumblrs.

Where do you get inspiration for your house from?

Thank you for reading.

Love,
Amy

Inspirational Ladies

Hi Ladies,

I hope that you're all having a good day.

I thought I'd write a quick post to talk about my favourite Bloggers/YouTubers and why they inspire me so much.

Firstly I'll talk about Dulce Candy:

I love reading Dulce's daily blogs/watching her YouTube videos. It's so nice to see how she has grown and become so successful over the last year or so.

She seems genuinely lovely and seems to have her life so 'together'. Her positivity really rubs off on you when watching her videos and makes you want to be better at everything.

She is a busy working Mum and Wife and seems to balance everything so perfectly.

The above picture was taken from her blog here. You can also watch her videos here.

Next, I'll speak about the gorgeous YouTuber, TessChristine123:

I always watch Tess's videos when I can't be bothered to get ready. She has the most adorable personality and regularly posts videos on her YouTube channel.

She uploads a variety of different videos from hauls to hair and make up tutorials.

Tess recently spent time studying in England and mixes her hauls and tutorials with a great balance of drug store and high end products.

Tess doesn't have a blog that I know of but her YouTube can be found here.

I've spoken about her before, but can't forget Huda Beauty:

This lady is SOLEY responsible for my recent purchases, including the Chanel Horizon Blusher and Illamasqua Divine lipgloss!

Her product reviews are very informative and very honest. I especially love her Monthly Favourites!

Her blog can be found here and her YouTube Channel here.

Who inspires you and why?

Thank you for reading.

Love,
Amy
